DESCRIPTION:
E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., "No. 7 Regulator" figure eight wall clock, 8 days, time only, weight driven movement in a walnut case with painted metal dial and reverse painted tablets, c1880
CONDITION:
the case has an old refinish with a great patina. The case bottom has been repaired from the weight falling through. The lower tablet is properly replaced and the weight baffle has been properly repainted. As with some of the No. 2s and No. 3s, this never had a hole in the case back to hold the movement rather is held in with two brass tabs (original), and a thin wood spacer. The original dial is excellent. The pendulum is original and retains its bright gilding and damascened bob with original lacquer. Case retains original Howard label with minor losses. Large iron weight is marked with a "2". This is an exceptional No. 7. Ht 50"
